WSL LONGBOARD CLASSIC
SURFS UP DUDE!! COWABUNGA!! HANG TEN!! Ok I’ll stop.
The World Surf League is the governing body for professional surfers with an event calendar that is absolutely jam pack for 12 months of the year. They host a variety of surfing competition formats and we were lucky enough be a part of the Longboard Classic at Bells Beach, VIC.
This 4 day event showcased the best longboarders from all over the planet, with the competition being braodcasted by FOX Sports Australia and a live feed going to YouTube. The network needs of this event involved linking up the scoring panelists and judges with broadcast and GFX team, and providing a solid backbone for the mountain of uploads that were happening for the photographers - they spent a lot of time in the water getting shots….and it wasn’t particularly warm. Respect.
We were also managing the pipe for the previously mentioned braodcast feeds. Also, getting up to watch the sunrise over Bells Beach each morning was bloody amazing. Aaaaaand the surfing was pretty alright too.
So if you happen to be around Bells in winter, or you’re a surfer, or you just like things and stuff go check out this event next time it comes by. And remember…..Point Break has a really underrated chase scene in it. VAYA CON DIOS 🤙🏽
